Making one copy is stealing one copy, says MPAA

This week a landmark verdict was handed down to RealNetworks with deep implications for fair use and personal property in America. The ruling wasn't about filesharing, piracy, or malicious computer use. Rather, it was fight over whether users should be able to make copies of digital content that they legal own. And in a precedent-setting decision, the media companies beat a small software vendor and fair use advocates and laid down an imposing decision -- copying DVDs that you own is illegal.

The suit filed against RealNetworks centered around the company's RealDVD software, which ripped through protection technology to allow users to make digital copies of their legally-owned content. RealNetworks had plans to release a DVD drive/software bundle called Facet, which would make the process even quicker and easier.

The company's business model, though, was put to the legal test. The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) filed suit against the company over alleged violations of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and breach of contract in a lawsuit filed last fall. The MPAA's assertion was simple -- consumers do not have the right to copy DVD movies -- ever.

Girl killed in Wii Remote mix-up

A girl has been killed after picking up a loaded gun, apparently mistaking it for a Wii Remote gun-style controller.

Three year-old Cheyenne Alexis McKeehan from Wilson County Tennessee died from a single self-inflicted shot to the abdomen from a .380 calibre semi-automatic pistol. The loaded firearm had been left on the coffee table in the living room of the girl’s house, after her stepfather thought he had heard a prowler outside.

According to the child’s mother, Cheyenne had been playing a Wii game that uses a gun peripheral - not one manufactured or approved by Nintendo (seen in the picture, underneath the handgun used in the shooting) - shortly before the accident occurred. The youngster was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

This week, the FBI released a “digitally-altered” image showing what Osama Bin Laden possibly looks like now that he’s older.

While the FBI claims to have used “cutting-edge” technology to create the image, a Spanish politician has noticed that the poster is a modified version of his campaign photo — he now finds his face in America’s most wanted list.
While on the surface it’s an amusing misstep by intelligence agencies, Gaspar Llamazares, the former leader of Spain’s United Left coalition, calls the move “shameless.” His safety is at risk, hetold the BBC, and he no longer feels able to travel to America now that his likeness is on a wanted poster: “Bin Laden’s safety is not threatened by this but mine certainly is,” Llamazares said.
The FBI is quoted admitting to the error, saying that the artist found the photo on the web and didn’t know it was of a Spanish politician:
“When producing age-progressed photographs, forensic artists typically select features from a database of stock reference photographs to create the new image…it appears that in this instance the forensic artist was unable to find suitable features among the reference photographs and obtained those features, in part, from a photograph he found on the Internet.
The forensic artist was not aware of the identity of the individual depicted in the photograph. The similarities between the photos were unintentional and inadvertent.”
We don’t think it matters that the man in question was a notable politician: Using photos from an image search to create a most wanted poster is surely putting the subject at risk, is it not?

A 570 megapixel camera will launch next year to prove the existence of Dark Energy.

Here's a small disclaimer: the 570 megapixel camera currently under construction isn't exactly small, and it won't end up on Walmart shelves anytime soon. Rather than replace the aging Hubble telescope due to hit retirement in 2014 (the James Webb Space Telescope will actually have seat), this $35 million dollar camera will focus its 74 CCD sensors on dark energy.

Called the Dark Energy Camera, this rig isn't looking for the existence of the dark side of the Force, but rather the invisible substance that supposedly makes up 70-percent of the universe. The camera is currently under construction at Fermilab in Batavia, Illinois under the supervision of Brenna Flaughter.

The idea of this camera is to peer back into time when the universe was only a few billion years old by pointing its mammoth lenses up into the Southern Hemisphere. Flaughter and her team of scientists want to understand how the dark energy diminished the influence gravity had over galaxies, thus allowing the expansion of the universe to accelerate.

The scientists are betting that the 570 megapixel monster will help solve the riddle by mapping the light from over 300 million galaxies and supernovas. The Dark Energy Survey and the digital camera is expected to go live in 2011, and could even challenge Einstein's general theory of relativity. "It’s throwing the tools of the digital age onto the old question of where we are," said Craig Hogan, the director of the Center for Particle Astrophysics at Fermilab.

The images produced by the Dark Energy Camera should make one heck of a desktop wallpaper.

This has been a great month for me , good news and good events have been pouring from all around . To add to a list of great events that occurred this month is the recent news that PS3 has been hacked .

For starters , PS3 is the most powerful and most secure gaming console of this time! GeoHot(George Hotz ) , a 17 year who was the person who was responsible for the hacking of iPhone has now once again proved that he is the Boy genius.

Yesterday he released to the general public the method he used to hack the PS3. This is great development , since PS3 which was not been hacked for the past 3+ years has finally fallen!

Even though some argue that the complete hack and subsequent copying of the game and playing is still not in future. Since, to make PS3 completely hacked , we need the Root Key , the holy grail for everything ! PSP even though hacked at various security levels has still not been compromised on the root key level !.

iPhone Hacked by Teen and Trades For Nissan 350Z

A New Jersey teenager has cut a deal to trade a hacked iPhone for a new set of wheels and three further iPhones, Yahoo! reports. Seventeen-year-old George Hotz, of Glen Rock, made the announcement on his blog, having successfully unlocked the Jesus phone. Duly released from the shackles of AT&T, the device was then swiftly offered for sale.

Hotz said: "Terry Daidone, the founder of Certicell contacted me this morning, and offered to make a trade for the iPhone. I traded it for a sweet Nissan 350Z and 3 8GB iPhones." He described the trade as "a great end to a great summer", and he can only hope AT&T's attack lawyers don't provoke a sudden autumn chill.

RIM to Launch New BlackBerry App Store in India

Apple really grabbed the attention of everyone involved in the mobile device market when it came up with the iPhone App Store even if things have not always gone as smoothly as users might have liked.

Then, just last month, we reported how Microsoft was looking to enter the App Store business with 'Skymarket' for Windows Mobile downloads early next year.

Now, pretty much inevitably, Research in Motion has announced at the BlackBerry Developer Conference in California that it has two major new 'distribution initiatives' for BlackBerry applications.

These take the shape of a new online application storefront plus a new 'on-device' application centre to provide consumers with easy discovery of and access to a wide range of BlackBerry apps. Those businesses with either BlackBerry Enterprise Server or Professional Software deployments will still control the applications that can be downloaded within the corporate infrastructure.

RIM tells me that the application storefront is scheduled for a March 2009 debut, but BlackBerry developers can start submitting stuff for inclusion as soon as December. The pricing model has also been confirmed, with developers being allowed to set their own prices.

Dell unveils Android-based Mini 3 smartphone

Dell said Friday that it's ready to enter the smartphone business with the Android-based Mini 3.

Long rumored to have a smartphone in the works, Dell said that the first two carriers to sell the Mini 3 will be China Mobile and Brazil's Claro.

In China, the Mini 3 will use OPhone, China Mobile's customized version of Google's Android operating system. "We are excited for Dell to be among the first manufacturers to introduce new technology based on the OPhone platform," an unnamed China Mobile representative said in Dell's press release.

Dell would not offer any specifics about the software on the Brazilian phone, saying simply that "the initial Mini 3 smartphones are designed around the Android platform."

The WDTV box lets your HDTV play media transferred from any USB storage device (flash drive or external hard drive), without any need for a streaming network device to bridge the distance from your storage drive or PC to the TV. Western Digital?s first-generation WDTV accomplishes its core task fairly well, but its menu system is slow.

The WDTV can connect to any standard-definition or high-definition television; it has composite audio/video connectors and HDMI, as well as optical audio output. HDMI is actually missing from its competitor, the Seagate FreeAgent Theater player.

The WDTV's two USB ports--one at front, one at back--let you keep two storage devices connected to the player simultaneously.

The Archos 7, the bigger, beefier brother of the Archos 5, is an Internet Media Tablet that offers a slick design, a solid Web-surfing experience (complete with Flash support), and excellent video playback on a large, high-resolution 7-inch display. Unfortunately, Archos nickel-and-dimes customers when it comes to adding format support, and we had some issues getting premium movies to download from CinemaNow.

Design and Interface

Measuring 7.5 x 4.3 x 0.6 inches and weighing a hefty 1.4 pounds, the Archos 7 isn’t a device designed for toting around in your jacket pocket. But with the girth comes a sharp 7-inch (800 x 480-pixel resolution) display that’s far more suitable for watching movies than the Archos 5 (which sported a 5.0 x 3.1 x 0.5-inch, 8.8-ounce figure). The player sports a shiny gunmetal plastic finish that conveys that it’s a premium product (which is welcome considering the $449 price tag), but it attracts all manner of fingerprints and smudges.

Two dedicated volume keys are on the top of the device, headphone and AC adapter jacks are on its left side, and two non-standard USB ports are built into the bottom. Stereo speakers flank the display, and a kickstand in the back props the Archos 7 into prime movie-watching position.

Like the Archos 5, this model utilizes a touchscreen for input and navigation; We had no problems navigating the system’s intuitive menus and folders. A dock on the left side of the screen that lets you quickly access media files, TV, Internet, settings, and Add-Ons (and their corresponding sub-folders) using bright, colorful icons. The latest firmware (1.3.05) was very stable and worked in conjunction with the ARM Cortex processor to produce a lag-free experience when moving about the system.

Court ruling forces Mininova to end illegal torrents

The Netherlands-based file-sharing website Mininova has removed all torrents that enabled users to download copyright-protected material.

The move follows a ruling in a Netherlands district court three months ago ordering the firm to remove links to illegal content.

The court said that Mininova's notice and take down policy was insufficient to keep it operating within the law.

The news is the latest in an ongoing campaign against file-sharing sites.

Although Mininova has not totally shut down operation, it has now removed all torrents that would enable users to download copyright-protected material, opting instead to only host a limited 'featured content' service, which offers legal licensed files.

There is a unique feature in Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 rel. 5 where you can lock your phone remotely by sending an SMS.

Reset Default lock code:

1) Go to Menu -> Settings -> Phone -> Phone mgmt. -> Security -> Phone and SIM card.
2) Click on "Lock Code". you will be asked to give existing lock code. This code depends on the mobile phone model and the right code will be specified in the phone's user manual. for example, for 5800XM, the phone lock code will be 12345 by default.

Remote Phone Lock:

From the same menu, select "Remote Phone Locking".

You will be asked to enter new "Remote Locking Message". This will be the message that you have to send in SMS when you want to lock the phone.

eg: lock from thief

Reenter the same message for verification.

If both the messages are identical, you will be asked to enter the lock code.

Use the phone's lock code and if everything is enetered properly, you will get the message "Code Accepted".

How to Lock:

In case you lost your phone and you want to lock your phone, SIM and memory card, you just send an SMS to your phone with the subject being the "Remote locking message" like "lock from thief".

Once the SMS reaches the phone, SIM/phone/memory card will be locked and the phone user need to enter the right lock code to unlock the phone.

Multi Partition a USB Flash Drive in Windows

Ever wondered how to set up more than one partition on a using Windows XP? In the following tutorial, I'll show you how to do just that. But first, let me explain how it works. By default, a USB flash drive is detected by Windows XP/Vista as removable media and thus will not display more than one partition. In addition, Windows will not allow you to multi-partition removable media. However, if we can make Windows see the USB flash drive as a fixed drive, Windows will then allow us to create multiple USB flash drive partitions. Windows will also detect and display those multiple USB flash drive partitions.

In order for this to happen, we need to flip the Removable Media Bit (RMB) on the USB Device. This will tell Windows that the flash drive is a fixed disk and not removable media. After successfully flipping the bit, you'll be able to multi partition the flash drive and Windows will display all partitions.
How to Flip the Flash Drive Removable Media Bit:
Warning: This tool will not work on all flash drives and it could potentially mess up your drive. No warranty is being offered, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! backup all information from your USB device before proceeding.

1. Download the Lexar tool and extract to you
2. Plugin your flash drive and run the executable
3. Select the option to Flip Removable Bit:

4. Then, remove and reinsert your flash drive. Your flash drive should now be detected by Windows as a fixed disk (not a removable disk). You can check this by right clicking the device and checking the device properties.

How to setup multiple flash drive partitions in Windows:
The following assumes that you have already Flipped the Removable Media Bit

1. Navigate to Start -> Run and type diskmgmt.msc in the dialog box then click Ok
2. From the window, right click your flash drive and select the option to Delete Partition:

3. Right Click your flash drive again and select the New Partition option:

4. Follow the New Partition Wizard and create a "Primary Partition". Once you get to the dialog box to set the Partition Size, be sure to set the Size to be smaller than the drives capacity to leave free space for the next partition:

5. Continue through the Wizard, giving your device a drive letter and formating the partition. I recommend a Fat32 partition.

6. After you have created the first partition, you can create additional partitions using step 3-5 on the unallocated empty space that remains on the drive:

7. Once finished, you should have multiple partitions on your USB flash drive that are detected and usable in Windows as separate drives.

Use and Verify Paypal without Credit Card [Legal Method]

This post will for all Indian residents who regularly use PayPal for sending or receiving money.

For adding funds in your PayPal account & lifting limits you would need a credit card. But as we all know not everyone is interested in having a credit card or some people are ineligible to be issued a credit card. A credit card can only be issued to a person above 18years of age and earning regular income.

First why not use Virtual Credit Card (VCC)…

Many people to use a Virtual Credit Card (VCC). But I don’t recommend it because the purpose of the PayPal verification is to validate your personnel information. Their goal is to verify the information given by you is correct. VCC’s cheat the system and do so in such a way that compromises the entire network. So even if you were able to verify using VCC, there is constant risk that PayPal might detect it and freeze your account. That’s why I don’t recommend using a Virtual Credit Card (VCC).

Use E-wallet by ICICI Bank

E-wallet is a VISA card issued by ICICI bank. It works exactly like a normal credit card and it is accepted on all online stores(including PayPal). It would be issued under your name. You will also get regular online statements for it.

It is different from a normal debit/credit as:

1. you won’t get a physical card.
2. you have to fill it before doing any transaction via B2 Internet Banking. It works like a prepaid debit VISA card

How to Get an E-wallet

E-wallet service is a Part of ICICI b2 saving account. For getting E-wallet service you have to Apply for a B2 account. To know more about ICICI branch free banking service visit b2 – Homepage. You can also more about it on my blog.

Eligibility and charges: Its a free service without any charges and is available to all Indian residents. b2 account is also a zero balance account, so do not worry about minimum balance.

Verifying PayPal with E-wallet

1. After your b2 account is activated (it takes 10-15 days) and you have moved money into this account via NEFT or Cheque deposit, login into your account. In summary tab, Under E-wallet Section click on “Allocate Funds”.

Congrats, now you are a verified PayPal member and you have done that without using any unfair means.

Asus Wednesday unveiled the first motherboard to support SuperSpeed USB. SuperSpeed USB, also known as USB 3.0, boasts transfer rates of up to 10 times faster than what users can expect with USB 2.0.

The Asus Xtreme Design P7DP55DE-E Premium packs two USB 3.0 ports and, given that the motherboard uses Intel's P55 Express Chipset, which doesn't even support USB 3.0, it's not surprising to learn some folk were a little confused when they first heard the news. Apple confirms Windows 7 Support for Mac OS X Boot Camp

Apple confirmed yesterday that it will support Windows 7 with "Boot Camp" in its Mac OS X Snow Leopard platform within the next few months, for those fanboys with a strange inclination to mix and match their operating systems.

The Cupertino-based firm announced its plans on its website on Thursday, which was the same day Microsoft officially took the wraps off Windows 7.

"Apple will support Microsoft Windows 7 (Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate) with Boot Camp in Mac OS X Snow Leopard before the end of the year. This support will require a software update to Boot Camp," it said.

The firm said customers would be able to dual install the latest operating system from its rival with Snow Leopard on their Macs.

It didn't confirm what date users can expect to see the boot camp update arrive.

Apple added that some early Intel-based Macs, including iMacs and MacBook Pros, manufactured in 2006 wouldn't support Windows 7 running in boot camp mode. ®

LiveMint is reporting that Internet user measurement and analytics platform agency ViziSense is crowning Gmail as the numero uno email service, ending Yahoo! Mail’s 10-year reign at the top.

According to the agency, the number of unique users of Yahoo! Mail dropped from 18.2 million in August to 16.8 million in September – a decline of 8 per cent. Meanwhile, Gmail gained 3 per cent in traffic to go to 18.2 million unique users in September, surpassing its rival by 1.4 million users.

Pigeon transfers data faster than South Africa's Telkom

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - A South African information technology company on Wednesday proved it was faster for them to transmit data with a carrier pigeon than to send it using Telkom , the country's leading internet service provider.Internet speed and connectivity in Africa's largest economy are poor because of a bandwidth shortage. It is also expensive.

Local news agency SAPA reported the 11-month-old pigeon, Winston, took one hour and eight minutes to fly the 80 km (50 miles) from Unlimited IT's offices near Pietermaritzburg to the coastal city of Durban with a data card was strapped to his leg.

Including downloading, the transfer took two hours, six minutes and 57 seconds -- the time it took for only four percent of the data to be transferred using a Telkom line.

Women are "Clueless" About Technology (Survey News)

A poll of 2,000 people found almost seven in 10 would ask a man for technical advice and one in five would refer to the internet, compared to only one in 10 who said they would consult a woman.

It showed 55 percent think women are ‘clueless’ when it comes to technology and almost two fifths believe men are more "naturally attuned" when it comes to the subject.

The research, carried out by technology company TechGuys, found seven in 10 of women questioned would also turn to a man for advice rather than a woman.

Tim Fairs, of TechGuys, said: "Traditionally technology has always been seen as the man’s domain, much like DIY used to be, and it seems this isn’t going to change anytime soon. It’s interesting that women are just as guilty as men when it comes to this.

"We are an equal opportunities employer, and always on the lookout for female TechGuys as we know that some of our customers may feel more comfortable letting a woman into their home, but it’s rare that we ever receive an application from a woman."

Last month it was reported that men prefer websites designed by men while women prefer those designed by women.

According to the new study from Bucks New University, it found men preferred designing and using websites with dark colours, straight lines, little detail and regular typography. Women tend to prefer more colour and detail as well as unusual typography.

Indian gamer sets world record for longest GTA4 session

Chirantan Patnaik, a 26-year-old resident of Napean Sea Road, has set a new world record for the longest time spent playing Grand Theft Auto IV. Guinness is yet to officially recognise the record, but as the marathon session was put up for live streaming on the gamer’s blog and abiding by all the competition rules, it’s only a matter of time.

The previous record holder was American writer/producer Jim Patton, who played the game non-stop for 28 hours in April 2008.

Patnaik, who works in a private equity firm, set about on his task on Friday, September 4 at 10:00 AM and finally kept the controller away at 2:20 AM on Sunday, September 6.

What is a bit surprising, though, is that the new record is only 40 hours and 20 minutes – a number that most gamers think they could beat, including almost everyone in the Digit team. In fact, we are pretty sure there are quite a few of you out there who have gone longer already!

And it’s not like you have to sit in a chair where you can’t move at all. According to competition rules, you are allowed 10 minute breaks every hour to eat, drink, answer nature’s call, crack your knuckles and revitalise yourself.

Also, reading up on the Internet, it’s unclear whether this is the longest time anyone has spent playing a video game, or if it’s the longest time playing GTA IV specifically. If anyone can shed some light on this, please let us know in the comments section below.

Indian Village With 250 Sets of Twins

The phenomenon has seen almost six times as many twins born than the global average in the remote village of Kodinhi, in Kerala.

In 2008 alone 15 pairs of twins were born in the village out of 300 healthy deliveries and this year is expected to top that number.

In the last five years alone up to 60 pairs of twins have been born, with the rate of twins increasing year-on-year.

Local doctor and twin enthusiast Dr Krishnan Sribiju has been studying the medical marvel of Kodinhi for the past two years.

Although 250 sets of twins have been officially registered in the village Dr Sribiju believes the real number to be far higher.

"In my medical opinion there are around 300 to 350 twins within the village boundaries of Kodinhi," he said.

"What is fascinating is the increasing numbers of twins with each passing year, so much so that I feel in the past ten years the number of twins in Kodinhi has doubled."

According to villagers, the twin phenomenon only started occurring three generations ago.

Dr Sribiju said: "To the best of my knowledge this medical marvel began somewhere between 60 to 70 years ago.

"Without access to detailed biochemical analysis equipment I cannot say for certain what the reason for the twinning is, but I feel that it is something to do with what the villagers eat and drink.

"If that is the case then maybe whatever is causing this exceptional level of twinning can be bottled and provide help for infertile couples." Categorising the twin phenomenon as a naturally occurring anomaly, Dr Sribiju has ruled out genetic factors as the cause due to the localised nature of the village.

He also dismisses any suggestion that the unusual level of twins could be caused by an unknown pollutant pointing to the high number of healthy twins born without any deformities.

"There are lots of reasons for twins, but let me explain the underlying uniqueness of Kodinhi," said Dr Sribiju, 40.

"The number of twins per thousand here is around 45 per 1,000 births.

"Indian, and by that I mean Asian, people on the sub-continent have the lowest acknowledged incidences of twinning in the world at around four per thousand.

"In addition, there is no IVF treatment here because of the prohibitive cost. Global rates of twins being born, especially in the western world, have increased because of artificial insemination."

Some whiz-kid blokes from Swinburne University in Australia have developed "Five-Dimensional" DVDs with a storage potential 2,000 greater than current disks. Nanopaticles and "polarization" method allow for massive increases in storage potential, while still maintaining the standard disk size. Teaming up with Samsung, researchers have already used this technique to create a 1.6 TB DVD, with future disks holding 10 terabytes. Our current crop of DVDs operate in three dimensions, the two extra dimensions of a five dimensional DVD are created by adding a color dimension, and a polarization dimension. Gold nanoparticles are used to create the color dimension. Since the size of the particles dictate how they react to light, researchers use this record data at different color wavelengths in the same place on a disk. Disk polarization can be adjusted 360 degrees. Data can be recorded at Zero degrees, with the ability to record more data at 90 degrees of polarization with no interference.

Flint (Michigan): A four-year-old boy remains in critical condition after police say he was shot by his seven-year-old cousin on Flint's north side.

Authorities say the shooting happened just before 10 pm on Sunday, about 55 miles northwest of Detroit.

Police told The Flint Journal that the seven-year-old boy found a loaded gun in his mother's bedroom, went into his own room, pointed the gun at his cousin and fired.

The four-year old was taken to a local hospital. No further details were released.

The state Department of Human Services is investigating.

એક સર્વે દરમિયાન પરદેશની એક પ્રાથમિક શાળામાં 4 થી 8 વર્ષનાં બાળકોને ‘પ્રેમ કોને કહેવાય ?’ એવા સવાલનો જવાબ આપવાનું કહેવામાં આવ્યું ત્યારે આટલાં નાનાં બાળકોએ જે જવાબો આપ્યા તે અચંબો પમાડે તેવા હતા. એમાંના ઘણાં બાળકોના જવાબો પરથી તો એ ટબૂડિયાઓને પ્રેમ શબ્દની સમજણ મોટા માણસો કરતા પણ વધારે પડે છે એવું જ લાગે ! તો એમની ભાષામાં જ એ જવાબો જોઈએ :

[1] મારા દાદીને સાંધાનો વા થયેલો છે. એ વાંકા નથી વળી શકતા એટલે એમના પગના નખ કાપવાનું તેમ જ રંગી આપવાનું કામ મારા દાદા પોતાને હાથના સાંધા દુ:ખતા હોવા છતાં નિયમિત કરી આપે છે. એને પ્રેમ કહેવાય ! – (રિબેકા, 8 વર્ષ)

[2] ‘જ્યારે તમને કોઈ ચાહતું હોય ત્યારે એ તમારું નામ બીજા કરતા કંઈક જુદી રીતે જ બોલે છે ! તમને એવું લાગે કે તમારું નામ એના મોઢામાં ખૂબ સલામત છે, એ જ પ્રેમ !’ – (બિલિ, 4 વર્ષ)

[5] ‘મારી મમ્મી કૉફી બનાવ્યા પછી મારા પપ્પાને આપતા પહેલા એક ઘૂંટડો ભરીને ચાખી લે છે કે બરાબર બની કે નહીં !’ બસ, એને જ પ્રેમ કહેવાય ! – (ડેની, 7 વર્ષ.)

[6] ‘તમને ખૂબ જ ગમતી ભેટનું પેકેટ કોઈ આપે અને એ પેકેટ ખોલવાને બદલે તમને એ આપનારની વાતો સાંભળવામાં વધારે રસ પડે એ પ્રેમ !’ – (બૉબી, 7 વર્ષ.)

[7] ‘એક છોકરી એક છોકરાને કહે કે તારું આ શર્ટ મને ખૂબ જ ગમે છે અને એ પછી છોકરો રોજે રોજ એ શર્ટ પહેરે એ પ્રેમ !’ – (નોએલ, 7 વર્ષ.)

[8] ‘એક વૃદ્ધ પુરુષ એક વૃદ્ધ સ્ત્રી એકબીજા વિશે બધું જાણતા હોવા છતાં વર્ષો સુધી જોડે રહી શકે એને પ્રેમ કહેવાય !’ – (ટોમી, 6 વર્ષ.)

[9] ‘મારી મમ્મી મને સૂવડાવી દીધા પછી મારી આંખ બંધ થયેલી જુએ ત્યારે હળવેથી મારા ગાલ પર પપ્પી કરે છે એ જ પ્રેમ !’ – (કલેર, 6 વર્ષ.)

[10] ‘પ્રેમ એટલે – મારા પપ્પા કામેથી આવે ત્યારે ધૂળ ધૂળ હોય અને પરસેવાથી ગંધાતા હોય છતાં મારી મમ્મી એની સામે હસે અને એમના ધૂળ ભરેલા વાળમાં હાથ ફેરવીને એમને ભેટી પડે – એ જ તો વળી !’ – (ક્રિસ, 7 વર્ષ.)

[11] ‘સવારમાં તમે હોમવર્ક કરતા હો એ વખતે તમે જેને દૂર હાંકી કાઢ્યું હોય અને પછી આખો દિવસ ઘરમાં એકલું છોડી દીધું હોય એ ગલૂડિયું સાંજે તમે નિશાળે પાછા આવો ત્યારે તમારો ગાલ ચાટે એને પ્રેમ કહેવાય !’ – (મૅરી એન, 4 વર્ષ.)

[12] ‘કોઈ તમને આઈ લવ યુ કહે અને તમારી આજુબાજુ ઘણા બધા તારા ફરતા હોય એવું લાગવા માંડે એ જ પ્રેમ !’ – (કરેન, 7 વર્ષ.)

નથી લાગતું કે આ ટબૂડિયાઓ પાસે પ્રેમ કોને કહેવાય એની ઉચ્ચ અને ઉત્કૃષ્ટ સમજણ છે ? હવે એક નાનકડી વાત. પડોશમાં રહેતા દાદી ગુજરી ગયા ત્યારે ચાર જ વરસનો એક નાનકડો બાળક દાદાને મળવા ગયો. એકાદ કલાક પછી એ પાછો ઘેર આવ્યો ત્યારે એની મમ્મીએ પૂછ્યું કે, ‘બેટા ! તેં વળી દાદાને શું કહ્યું ?’
‘કંઈ નહીં મમ્મી !’ બાળકે જવાબ આપ્યો, ‘એમના ખોળામાં બેસી મેં એમને રડવામાં મદદ કરી !’
…..બસ, આ જ પ્રેમ !!

[બ] ભગવાન શું નહીં પૂછે – શું પૂછશે ?

[1] ભગવાન એ નહીં પૂછે કે આપણે કઈ બ્રાન્ડની કાર વાપરતા હતા, પરંતુ એ જરૂર પૂછશે કે કેટલા જરૂરિયાતવાળા અને અશક્ત લોકોને એમના ઘર સુધી પહોંચવામાં આપણે મદદ કરી હતી !

[2] ભગવાન એ નહીં પૂછે કે આપણું ઘર કેટલા સ્ક્વેરફૂટનું ક્ષેત્રફળ ધરાવે છે, પરંતુ એ જરૂર પૂછશે કે સાચા દિલથી એ ઘરમાં આપણે કેટલા લોકોને આવકાર્યા હતા.

[3] ભગવાન એ નહીં પૂછે કે આપણી પાસે કેટલા અને કેવાં કપડાં છે, પણ એ જરૂર પૂછશે કે કેટલા લોકોના ઉઘાડા શરીર આપણે ઢાંકી શક્યા.

[4] આપણા સામાજિક દરજ્જા અંગે પૂછપરછ કરવાની એ જરાપણ દરકાર નહીં કરે, હા ! આપણા નૈતિક દરજ્જા અંગે એ બરાબર પૂછશે !

[5] આપણી પાસે કેટલી સંપત્તિ હતી એ અંગે જાણવામાં એને રસ નહીં હોય, પરંતુ આપણે સંપત્તિના કે સંપત્તિ આપણી ગુલામ હતી એ અંગે એ જરૂર પૂછશે.

[6] આપણો પગારનો ગ્રેડ કેટલો ઊંચો હતો એ અંગે ભગવાન કશું જ નહીં પૂછે, પણ એને માટે અને એટલો ગ્રેડ હોવા છતાં આપણે કેટલું નીચે ઊતરવું પડ્યું હતું એ તો જરૂર પૂછશે.

[7] આપણને નોકરીમાં, સમાજમાં, સત્તામાં કે અન્ય સંગઠનોમાં કેટલી બઢતી મળી એની સાથે એને કંઈ જ લેવાદેવા નથી, પરંતુ બીજા લોકોને આગળ આવવા દેવામાં આપણે કેટલી મદદ કરી કે શું કર્યું એની એ સવિસ્તાર નોંધ માગશે. (જોકે એની પાસે એ નોંધ હશે જ !)

[8] આપણે કલાસ વનના કે કલાસ ફોરના કર્મચારી હતા એ અંગે એ કંઈ જ નહીં પૂછે, પરંતુ આપણને સોંપાયેલ જે કંઈ કામ હોય તે આપણે નિષ્ઠાપૂર્વક કર્યું હતું કે નહીં એની એ પાક્કી પૂછપરછ કરશે.

[9] પોતાની જાતને મદદરૂપ થવા માટે આપણે શું શું કર્યું એમાં એને થોડોક પણ રસ નહીં હોય, પરંતુ બીજાને મદદરૂપ થવા આપણે શું કરી છૂટ્યા એ અંગે એ બધું જ વિગતે પૂછશે.

[10] આપણા કેટલા અને કેવા સરસ મિત્રો હતા એની થોડીક પણ પૂછપરછ એ નહીં કરે, પરંતુ અન્ય લોકો સાથે આપણે કેટલો મિત્રતાપૂર્ણ વ્યવહાર કરતા હતા એ વાત એને મન ખૂબ જ અગત્યની હશે.

[11] આપણા પોતાના હક્કોની જાળવણી માટે આપણે કેવો અને કેટલો સંઘર્ષ કર્યો એના વિશે ભગવાન કંઈ જ નહીં પૂછે, પરંતુ બીજાના અધિકારોની જાળવણી માટે આપણે કેટલું લડ્યા એની રજેરજ માહિતી એ માગશે.

[12] આપણે કેવા ઉચ્ચ પડોશમાં રહેતા હતા એની એને જરાય પડી નહીં હોય, પરંતુ આપણા પડોશીઓ સાથે આપણો વ્યવહાર કેવો હતો એ જાણવામાં એને જરૂર રસ હોવાનો !

[13] આપણી ચામડીના કે ચહેરાના રંગને એ જોવાનો જ નથી, એ તો આપણા ચારિત્ર્યના ચહેરાને જ જોશે અને એ અંગે જ પૂછશે.

[14] આપણે બોલ્યા એ કેટલી વખત આચરણમાં મૂક્યું એ અંગે એ નહીં પૂછે, પરંતુ એવું કેટલી વાર નથી બન્યું એ અંગે જરૂર પૂછાશે.

[15] અને છેલ્લે…. પોતાના હાથ ફેલાવીને સર્વ સુખ અને શાંતિના દરવાજા ખોલીને આપણી રાહ જોઈ રહેલો એ એવું નહીં જ પૂછે કે આટલી બધી વાર શું કામ થઈ, પરંતુ એ એવું જ પૂછશે કે આ બધું તમારા માટે જ છે, પણ આ બધું છોડીને ફાલતુ વસ્તુઓ માટે જતા તો નહીં રહો ને ?!

Thought the 5MP on the Nokia N97 is enough? Nokia now bests it best with its new 8MP N86.

The N86 has a large 2.6” OLED screen and in contrast to Nokia N97's total lack of buttons this one has the plenty with the usual 5 button navigation, call / end keys, and menu and clear keys. A dual slide out design unveils even more keys, with the standard numeric keypad, and shorter slide-out with media keys.

With Samsung and LG coming out with phones having 12MP cameras, the 8MP camera may seem like an underplay. However for most people not looking for mobile that doubles as a decent camera, rather that a decent camera that doubles as a phones, this will indeed be impressive. The 8MP camera has Nokia's usual Carl-Zeiss lenses. Additionally it supports auto-focus with dual stage image capture, and a dual Led flash. The camera also supports video capture at VGA resolutions at up to 30fps.

Like the N97 it too comes with a GPS, digital compass, ambient light sensor, and proximity sensor. With almost the same feature set, it is quite a match for the N97, except for it's smaller screen, and lack of touch sensitivity.

With the recent release of the N97, this might just steal some competition away from the bigger beast, especially those attracted by its camera. Either way though the ball's in Nokia's court.

Which search terms would make it on the list if you would have to compile a list of the ten most dangerous web search terms? Most users would probably add search terms like warez, cracks and sex when asked to compile a top ten list. A recent McAfee study on the other hand came to a completely different conclusion. The ten most dangerous web search terms are everyday search terms that cannot be connected easily with malicious intent. The top spot is occupied by searches for Screensavers, followed by free games, work from home and Rihanna with Barrack Obama, the iphone and Taxes in the list as well. It should however be noted that the top 10 list is made up of categories and not single search terms.

These search terms are more dangerous than, lets say warez, because most users know that warez can lead to malicious software quite easily while they most likely do not suspect the same from these popular search terms.

The McAfee researches searched for more than 2600 popular keywords examining the first five pages of results across five popular search engines with McAfee’s Site Advisor Technology. The top 50 most dangerous search terms in the US were listed in the research paper as well. The phrase “word unscrambler” is taking up the top spot followed by lyrics, myspace and free Music Downloads

The researches discovered that lyrics and free made up the two most category-specific risks on the web these days. The research paper can be downloaded directly at McAfee.

Hmmm . . . this looks pretty cool. Normally I use Excel for something like this. Create all the "names" I want, or paste them from another list, and then concatenate them together with the "md" command (make directory).

So, column A could be filled with numbers, names, letters, whatever the variable part of the folder title was going to be.

Then, in column B you’d copy and paste a formula:

="md "&"""day "&A1&" results"""

which would resolve to:

md "day 001 results"
md "day 002 results"
md "day 003 results"

copy this list into notepad, save it as a BAT file, and run it in the folder where you want the files.

Yes, I agree that in the individual case the profiled program is likely faster, but this is a relatively infrequent need for me, and the flexibility of using anything in an excel spreadsheet as the source is sometimes useful (you could still use this program to paste them into a text file).

Using Print Screen Key

Press f11, this will hide the tool bars and gives extra room for the image.

√ 1 Large Onion
√ 1 Screwdriver
√ 2 Large Cups Of Energy Drinks
√ IPod with its USB connector.

Procedure :
√ Drill 2 holes on either side of the onion using the screwdriver.
√ Soak the onion with two drilled holes in gatorade for 30 min.
√ Wipe out excess fluid from the Onion.
√ Plug your USB connector (attached to iPod on the other end) into the onion.

Purpose: To try to charge an ipod or other electronic device using Gatorade and an onion.

Hypothesis: I think the Gatorade will fully charge the device because of the electrolytes in the drink.

Variables:
1) Independant Variable: The size of the holes in the onion.

2) Dependant Variable: How fast the onion absorbs the Gatorade. If I make the holes in the onion bigger, the Gatorade should absorb faster.

3) Control Variables: The amount of Gatorade used (2 cups) and the size of the onion.

Materials:

Large onion
2 cups of Gatorade/Electrolyte drink
Ipod with Usb charger
Screwdriver
Shot Glass
Measuring Cup
Towel

Procedure:

Step 1: Use the screwdriver to poke a hole into one side of the onion all the way into the middle. Twirl the onion around and repeat the process to the other side. This will allow the liquid to travel freely through the onion.

Step 2: Place the onion into 2 cups of Gatorade. Make sure that the holes are submerged. Let the onion soak for about 20 minutes. It will start to absorb some of the drink and will likely sink to the bottom. It should of absorbed about half the liquid.

Step 3: Take the onion out of the fluid and dry the outside with a towel. You want to get off all the excess fluid. Place the onion on a support (shot glass)

Step 4: Firmly press the USB cord into the top of the onion. It will take a couple seconds for the power to travel through the cable. The ipod should begin charging.

Results: The first couple times the ipod never charged. But after i left the onion in the Gatorade all night it finally worked.

Conclusion: My hypothesis was correct. The Gatorade charged the ipod.

Application Statement: If you can’t get to a computer to charge your ipod or if your broke down and your ipod is out of charge, you can try this.
